PLANNING HUGS
I started this series in early 2019 when the pandemic was unimaginable.
Sometimes, art is ahead of life... as if there were something premonitory in the air that
descends into the brush long before it takes shape in reality.
In this series I began sketching images of hugs captured by the need to transit through tenderness.
Long before I knew that in this quarantine hugs would become a lack, I passed through the idea of hug as a human-animal refuge.
Usually, before facing a new series, I go first in search of a support that attracts me, non-classical supports: I found (or they found me) some old architectural plans under construction. I was interested in contrasting what can be a cold building construction in contrast to the warm gestation of a home. And so the air moved my hand.
In times of social distancing, face masks and #stayhome, hugs are that home warmth that is inexplicable, invaluable and irreplaceable.
In this context of pandemic, priorities are resignified and in this world turned upside down, dogs now take humans for a ride.
They continue to be our great teachers; they teach us how to live in the present, day by day and without anxieties or fears.
That's why: I plan Hugs.
